PRESS RELEASE

Posted 01/15/12 - 9:30 am The CB300 Race Has Been Officially Cancelled!

The 2012 Copper Basin 300 has been cancelled at Meier's Lake, 75 miles into the race. Heavy snows and high winds obliterated the middle section of the trail; the race trail is impassable. Furthermore, temperatures have consistently ranged between 45 and 50 degrees below zero. The decision was made in the interest of the dogs, mushers and race staff.

Posted - 15 January 2012 -- 0:553- The Copper Basin Race committee temporarily suspended the Copper Basin 300. The section of trail between Meier's Lake and Sourdough is impassible due to unusually deep snow conditions, high winds and bitter cold. All dog teams, handlers and race officials are to convene at Meier's Lake Roadhouse.

All teams currently on the trail are expected back at Meier's lake by 7 am.

As information becomes available updates will be provided.
